Mission Statement:
What is freedom? They say it is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without restraint. Here at Breakthrough, we fully support the diverse identities and lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. We seek to foster a world free of prejudice, harassment, and violence just because a person is "different". We will increase the general public's understanding of aspects related to sexual orientation and gender identity in an open and free environment. We will breakthrough. |
This is our first Think Tank Project.
As a team, we researched the importance of the LGBT community.
The LGBT community is an issue globally known, and is still an issue today because of society having difficulty in accepting the diverse identities of people based on their sexual orientation.
In the project, we provided helpful information in order to guide the ones who are in need of some support.
Step 1: INTRODUCE the topic.
Step 2: PROVIDE evidence that supports the subject of this assignment.
This assignment is an important issue because personally, don't judge by preference, and accepts people for who they are, and the world should too as well. Being interested in the same sex does not define who you are, your personality does.
This project had an huge impact on me, because it got me so involved into the topic, and I never knew how society was that narrow minded.

This is our second Think Tank Project involving the act of bullying.
As a team, we research ways to help prevent these types of behaviors,
as well as some innovative interventions and strategies in order to provide guidance incase of future encounters.
Step 1: INTRODUCE the problem.
Step 2: DEFINE "bullying".
Step 3: PROVIDE evidence that illustrates that bullying is a problem in schools and that bullying is a problem in THIS school.
Step 4: INTRODUCE both prevention and intervention strategies for all parties involved: witnesses, victims, & bullies.
Step 5: ENGAGE the participants in an activity.
This assignment is a significant piece because of it's individuality;
in other words, it's unique, and it's different from all other projects. It's own relativity to connect with the audience
made an impact in some sort of way in every individual, and that this is why this project is meaningful to me.
What I know now is that bullying doesn't have to be a direct behavior towards another person,
but it can also be indirect. Bullying is a major issue in the world, and there are many ways to prevent it from happening.
I also didn't know that being the bystander also is a contribution to the bully, because there's none taking place;
so don't be that person; take action; and make the better difference.
